About the Founder
A deep-rooted commitment to environmental conservation has been a lifelong journey for Hill + House founder, Susan Binnie. She was influenced by a family of conservationists and nature lovers. Her curiosity about the environment was initially sparked by her grandfather's involvement with the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and his dedication to soil conservation. Growing up, her immediate and extended family maintained vegetable gardens and berry bushes on their properties, providing a bountiful supply of fresh produce.
Throughout her childhood, her family embarked on annual road trips and camping expeditions across the United States and Canada. These adventures deepened her connection to the beauty of our planet and reinforced her belief in the vital importance of preserving it. These experiences instilled in Susan a profound appreciation for nature and the intricate bond between humanity and the natural world.
It was this unwavering passion and sense of responsibility that ultimately inspired her to establish Hill + House, an earth-friendly marketplace and community dedicated to promoting sustainable living and eco-conscious choices.
